2021 AGM and updates!

We held our 2021 AGM in June of this year. The AGM is generally the only time we get together as a collective in-person, and when we discuss and make decisions on how we run the workshop. As a registered charity and incorporated society we are also required to have elected officers. At our AGM this year we elected the following officers:

Chair-person: Audrey Banach-Salas

Treasurer: Stephanie Cairns

Secretary: Nicole Gaston

In retrospect we realised that for the first time in the 3 years we have been a registered charity all of our elected officers are female. While all of our volunteers are essential to the workshop and we wouldn’t be able to exist without the contributions of many, as an organisation that aims to promote equity, education, and sustainability, we thought this was a significant milestone.

Bike workshops can be intimidating spaces for many people and we want to ensure our space is welcoming, safe and inclusive. While we are proud to have a collective that includes men and women, we recognise it is still lacking in diversity in many aspects. All of our volunteers are amazing but we would really like to recruit volunteers from more diverse backgrounds! If you are interested in getting involved with our collective please get in touch. You don’t have to be a bike repair expert to get involved! Just an interest and willingness to commit to our kaupapa is all that is required.

We are very lucky to have a committed group of volunteers and be part of an awesome community. Here’s to another year of fixing bikes!
